Our oak tree – you will notice a change when you next visit

Visitors to the Park this weekend will notice that our large oak tree by the Ticket Office is looking a little smaller. The oak tree, which died of old age this year, has had its branches removed leaving just the trunk.

We decided to leave the trunk as it will provide home and shelter to many insects and bugs and continue to improve biodiversity across the Park. The wood taken off will be used for maintenance and repair tasks.Throughout the last few years, the Garden Team have been collecting acorns from the various oaks within the Park, so they can provide replacement trees when the original have died. As you will see we have an impressive collection of saplings.

We are currently open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays up to and including Sunday 15th December. We are closed on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

The Park is now closed for the winter. Please keep an eye on our website news section and via our social media sites for updates on the animals.
