Volunteer at our Charity

Individual Volunteers

From time to time we have vacancies for volunteers to assist within the Animal, Gardening Maintenance and Education/Conservation Departments, in one of Berkshire’s most beautiful wildlife parks and gardens.

The Role of a Volunteer

Volunteers play an important part in the running of the Park, and can be involved in almost every aspect of our daily tasks, depending on your experience and the amount of time you are able to contribute. Examples include:

Animal Department

Duties include food preparation, cleaning and enclosure maintenance

Days available: any weekday

Gardening Maintenance Department

Horticultural tasks: e.g. weeding, planting, watering, mowing and general garden maintenance (some basic gardening experience is required). Also, some construction, renovation, sweeping paths, cleaning the paddling pool, painting gates and fences, and, on occasion, various projects.

Days available: any weekday

Education and Conservation Department

Do you have an education and/or conservation background with experience in Key Stage One and/or Two?

Education and Conservation tasks: e.g. planning and preparing education and conservation sessions, researching and running holiday workshops.

Days available: any weekday

No formal qualifications are required to become a volunteer: however, you will need to be reliable, enthusiastic and courteous when dealing with visitors and staff. The majority of our volunteer positions are for those aged 18 years of age or above. However, there are opportunities for students with a Further or Higher Education background – depending on what they want to do. References may be required.

All applicants will be asked to show that they have the right to work in the UK (passport and National Insurance card).

Please note: Volunteer openings at the Park are limited: we do not always have vacancies

Procedures vary according to the Department you volunteer with. You will be shown emergency procedures, health and safety information and given an overview of the Park, with additional training relating to the tasks you are volunteering for.

If you wish to express your interest….
